"I found an error and the error that I found is your beard. That thing's a huge mistake. I'm gonna come there and fix it myself. That's right. I'm a guest on your show May 2nd and whether you like it or not, I'm gonna shave your beard." - Will Ferrell
This past Monday night, Will Ferrell called into Conan O'Brien to "make a correction." He wants to "correct" the error that is Conan's beard. Will continued, "May 2nd. Circle the date on your calendar because I am circling your face like a vulture who eats hair...I'm gonna shave every rusty pube on your face. I am serious, beardly serious, yeah. It's coming off. Dick."
The new star of The Office might be funny & we've certainly supported Conan over the months, (see also: here and here) but to both parties - it's time you get real (and how about original). The beard community is tired of people shaving on stage in some desperate attempt to garner additional audience views (see: SNL). And we can't help, but feel that this is even more lame than Zach Galifianakis' stunt now that May sweeps is quickly approaching and shows are scrambling for higher ratings.
Even though Conan has stated in numerous interviews that he didn't want to keep his post-NBC beard forever - now is not the time. Stay true to the beard that continued to grow even when your career was stagnate.
